Share
Exciting changes are underway at the GreatNeck Tools Johnson City Plant as the facility continues to evolve and modernize its operations. One of the major advancements includes the launch of the Acetone Vapor Polish (AVP) line, now officially in production. Following extensive research into NFPA and Tennessee Department of Air Pollution regulations, the AVP equipment was carefully packed and transported from New York to its new home in a freshly renovated space in Department 18. This move marks a significant step forward in production capabilities. The AVP line will be used to produce a line of fully Made in the USA acetate screwdrivers and other tools. Additionally, the hot stamping operation for SD handles is now fully operational, further enhancing efficiency and output.
In another major transition, the Wood Department has officially shut down, bringing an end to over a century of producing Mayes wood levels. While the closure marks the end of an era, the future holds promising opportunities for expansion. The facility has undergone significant renovations, including the removal of the sawdust collector and woodworking equipment. The aging concrete in bays 10 and 11 has been replaced with a fully graded concrete pad, improving drainage and allowing for smoother truck maneuverability. The former wood department space has been repurposed as the IM Annex, which will support the continued growth of IM products.
These changes reflect GreatNeckTools' commitment to innovation and progress, positioning the Johnson City Plant for a stronger and more efficient future.
